Do you think it’s a good idea for Johnny to get involved with Rab and the rest of the people fighting the British? Please explain your answer.

I think that it is dangerous that johnny is getting involved with all of fighting against the British. He could get into a lot of trouble with the British and maybe even hung. But when the war breaks out ( if it does in this book) he could get seriously ingered or maybe even killed! That would be bad. I think Johnny should stay out of this mess.
ReplyDelete-Zipy Runner 9-
I have to disagree with Zipy Runner 9. Johnny has nothing better to do than ride his boring horse around the streets. Maybe this will give him a thrill and take his mind off of his crippled hand. Rab is now close to Johnny and Johnny has nothing better to do. So i think, why not get involved in the issues and express your opinion. Of the war is a possibility, but thats a risk i think he should take. My question right now is...Does Johnny really want to continue life the way he is? Maybe this "new life" will help him become more confident.

I believe that Johnny should join the war with Rab and the other Sons of Liberty. I believe this because of Johnny loves adventure and excitement, he won't abandon the war. Because of his arrogant behavior, I believe that Johnny would stay confident and do well in the war. He also agrees with the Patriot side of the argument, and he has many friends in the Sons of Liberty that will help him get through the battles. He is always eager to help the members of the Sons of Libery, so I am confident he won't back out on them. All in all, I believe that Johnny would be a good addition to the battles.

I have to agree somewhat with zippyrunner on the facy that Johnny will possibly get hurt in this battle. I certainly will be a struggle for Johnny with his crippled hand, i mean, what would Johnny actually do in the war (even though I still think he should go)? He can't really shoot a gun and definatly not fight with a sword or anything like that!

Yes and no. This your indecisive Aluminum Duck. To answer Shadows question, we must look at all possibility's. Should the rebels\patriots be successful, Johnny could be killed in the process, or he could be discovered and hung. He could be treated like a hero, should he do anything somewhat heroic (God forbid his ego swell MORE), or the British troops could trace Johnny back to the Laphams and cause them, for want of a better word, harm. Or, the rebels\patriots could fail, and johnny could be killed\hung, or he could be forced to poverty if the Lornes are discovered\killed. If Johnny does not join the rebels\patriots, he will be forced to ruin. Johnny will probably join the rebels\patriots even though I don't think he should, because there's so much risk in doing so. Yours Truly,

Yes, I think Johnny should fight the British. I think this because the Sons Of Liberty have secret meetings in the Lorne's loft, so Johnny will become involved sooner or later. Also, as 3hockeystar3 said, I agree with the thought that Johnny likes all the excitement. For instance he probably enjoyed doing the Boston Tea Party and dumping all that tea into the harbour. However, if Johnny fought in the army he's not only risking his life, but also possibly the Lornes, the Laphams, and the Sons Of Liberty lives. That could happen if the Patriots lost, the British could connect Johnny with all those other people and kill them all. However, because Johnny is commonly arrogant, he would most likely be willing to take that risk to regain some lost fame and pride that he lost from his accident. Overall, given the risks, Johnny should definitely fight against the British.

I agree with Aluminum Duck in one way. Yes and no. I guess I would have to say yes though. Here are some negatives to joining. Johnny has no way of being able to fight in the war with his hand being crippled. He would never be able to use a sword of even shoot a gun. Also, if he is discovered, he might be hung and no one would want that. But, there are reasons Johnny should go as well. One major reason is to get him involved in something after injuring his hand. It will make Johnny feel needed and useful. Johnny is close to Rab. Rab and the Sons of Liberty can help him through the war if he feels like he made a mistake in joining (if he does joins that is). Johnny might be a great help to the battles and possibly even become a hero. There's a major risk to joining the war but all the help is needed and Johnny would be able to help.

Dear everyone,
ReplyDeleteI belive that the answer to "Shadows" question is yes and no. My reasoning for the no is that if you betray your Mother Country(Great Britian) it is considered treason, and treason is very bad. There are many punishments for treason and most of them result in death. Another bad thing that could happen to Johnny is that he could be taken by "lobsterbacks".However there are some good reasons for fighting the British. He could become a hero and start(hopefully) a better lifestyle. Another good reason is that he has many good reasons to fight the British. Even though he isn't an adult, he should know about all the outrageous acts Great Britian has been doing(A.K.A. Taxes/no representation). So given all the reasons I believe that Johnny should fight. Besides what does he have to lose. Hopefully not another hand.
Yours Truly,
Tostitos Maniac
P.S. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!!
I think the answer to this question is yes and no. I think the answer is no because with his crippled hand he could get hurt. Also I dont think he would even be able to hold a gun so he would be very vulnerable! Plus, it is just plain dangerous!
ReplyDeleteI think yes because it is good to stand up for what you belive in! And if Johnny really wants repesentation then he should fight for it!!!
from your mermaid of the sea,
aquamermaid2
Dear everyone(again),
ReplyDeleteOf the comments up above I would have to agree with Aquamermaid2, BalletxFreak, Running Turkey, and 3hockystar3. The reason being that Johnny would have trouble with his crippled hand if he FOUGHT in the war. However there are many other things Johnny could do to help. For example, he already delivers messages for the Sons of Liberty. Is there a threat well doing this. Yes, but it isn't as big of a threat as fighting a whole army of "lobsterbacks". So in this case I do not think a crippled hand will cause much trouble. However, if he would have to fight with his crippled hand, then the answer altogether would be completey different . But for now my answer still remains mostly a yes.
Yours Truly,
Tostitos Maniac
P.S.Let there(hopefully not again) be Lyte!!!
I am agreeing with the mermaid of the sea because in ways he could get hurt. In my answer I expressed that i didnt think Johnny wanted to live anymore. Now as i think about it, Cilla is really becoming a big part of this book as we read on. Maybe Johnny does want to still live and if this is true then he shouldn't go fight and risk it. There are plenty of patriots that could take his place.

I do think it's a good idea for Johnny to fight because before johnny hated himself and hated to go into the public because of his crippled hand. He also was not getting any decision whatsoever in what he thought was right in the war. He just belived in what Mr. Lapham wanted him to belive. Now that he's involved in the war and Rab, he can express how he feels more freely
ReplyDeleteKaitlyn plonty
Yes, it probably is a good idea for him to go to fight because everyone thinks he is weak because of his crippled hand he wants to show he is stronger than everyone thinks he is.
